Recently, the Afghan mayor of the
Helmand Province thanked King Abdullah for sending a new call-to-prayer loud
sound system. The last thing that the residents of the Helmand Province in Afghanistan
need is more encouragement to attend mosques. They are already among the most
religiously devout in South Asia; is a loud call-to-prayer sound system what
they need? Or would it benefit the poverty stricken Afghans more to improve
their access to good education, food, healthcare facilities, running water and
electricity?
